I just finished an amazing book—brim full of humanity— a son’s tribute to his father. I would categorize the book, Losing My Cool: How A Father’s Love and 15,000 Books Beat Hip-Hop Culture by Thomas Chatterton Wiliams, as a “love letter from a son to his father, Pappy. Pappy, born in the segregated south in the 1930’s, figured out early that “if he didn’t teach himself what he needed to know through books no one else would.”
I can’t think of a better book to read on the heels of “back to school” Enjoy.
I also heartily recommend following the sage advice of Jorge Luis Borges, who once quipped, “I cannot sleep unless I am surrounded by books.”
